The United States Power Squadrons is a non profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by teaching classes in seamanship, navigation and related subjects. Each squadron's activities involve the three primary objectives of USPS: community service, continuing education, and enjoying the friendship and camaraderie of our fellow members. The Beverly Squadron is one of the four squadrons of District 18. The squadron was established in 1948 and serves Beverly, Massachusetts and the surrounding area.

Squadron BurgeeOur Squadron Burgee depicts the Schooner Hannah, one of the first ships of the US Navy and commissioned in Beverly.

One of our main functions is to provide public classes in safe boating. Annually, we provide about five public boating classes in the Massachusetts North Shore.

New England Boat Show, February 11 - 19, 2012 District 18 will once again help District 12 man a booth at the boat show on February 19th. Let Us know if you would like to participate. Diesel Engine Maintenance Course for Women There is going to be a Diesel Engine Workshop for women! See attached registration flyer. General Membership Meeting Our March 1st General Membership Meeting features retired Harvard professor George Brandenburg who will speak on the life of Nathaniel Bowditch. Bowditch didn't attend school after age 12, let alone go to Harvard, yet he managed to teach himself Latin, French, mathematics and astronomy, and he learned math and physics well enough to make world-renowned contributions in both fields. Professor Brandenburg is an experimental particle physicist recently retired from Harvard where he served as the Director of the Laboratory for Particle Physics and Cosmology. Most recently he helped to construct the ATLAS detector, which is now taking data at CERN's Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. One of his pursuits since moving to Salem in 2008 has been volunteering at the NPS Salem Maritime National Historic Site and on the Friendship. Your Feedback The Beverly Squadron wants to hear from you. We want your honest opinion on this TOTALLY AWESOME web site.
